Telangana Govt planning to bring Binoy Kumar as Chief Secretary

With Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma retiring from the service on November 30, Telangana government has begun the exercise to appoint a new head of the state administration. 

Though many senior officials in the rank of Special Chief Secretaries are there in the race, it is learnt that the government is contemplating to bring a senior most officer Binoy Kumar, who was at presently working as Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in New Delhi. 

Sources said that Binoy Kumar has rich experience in administration as well as in the field of commerce. Among others who are in the race for the coveted post are Special Chief Secretaries SK Joshi (Irrigation), SP Singh (Panchayt Raj) and Ajay Mishra (Commercial Taxes department).     

The names of two other senior-most officials Pradeep Chandra (Revenue) and MG Gopal (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) also figured but they are retiring from the service in four month’s time. 

KCR wants to appoint a senior-most officer who has at least two years service to streamline the administration and ensure effective governance. 

The CM would finalise the name in about two week’s time, the sources said. Sources said that after retirement, Rajiv Sharma is likely to be appointed as Advisor to the government.
