Jaitley Proves AP People OK with 'Package'
The Opposition parties in AP, mainly YCP chief Jagan and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan are still raising their voice and planning public meetings in favor of the alleged 'Special Category Status' for the residual state but it seems that people have already given up hopes and are content with the reportedly hefty Special Package announced by the Centre.

When the Telangana movement was at its peak in the Telangana districts of the then united AP, no Union leader dared to visit the riot-hit area fearing backlash from people. Later, after separating the Telugu states, the same Congress leaders restrained from campaigning in the residual AP with the fear of facing humiliation and protests from angry public.

The people of residual AP, who scared the Congress leaders then, look to have turned softer now. Even after the Narendra Modi government has gone back on its promise of Special Status, not many protests against either the state ruling TDP or the Centre have been witnessed.

On Oct 28, Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, visited the AP Capital, laid the foundation stone for permanent Secretariat building and was also felicitated by the state leaders. All this happened without any protest from public. If the people were really mad at the Centre, Jaitley wouldn't have dared to land in the state capital.

It looks like AP people have got convinced with the reiterations from Union and state leaders that package will provide more benefits than special status.

On the other hand, Telangana people were then reluctant to listen to anyone against the new state formation. They showed courage, spirit, put up sacrifices and fought emotionally to force the Centre to grant their demand.

Given that the people of residual AP have already made their decision, it would be a wise move on the part of the very few leaders who still dream of launching a protest with the support of public.
