AIADMK, DMK file papers for Thanjai, Aravakurichi seats
Candidates of both the AIADMK and DMK filed their nomination papers for the Thanjavur Assembly constituency on Friday. AIADMK North district secretary Rengasamy filed his papers with Revenue Divisional Officer C Suresh, who is the returning officer.
In his affidavit, Rengasamy declared assets worth Rs 1.02 crore. Of this, movable properties were valued at Rs 44.09 lakh, while immovable property were valued at Rs 57.58 lakh, which includes 11.63 acres of land. He noted his profession as a lawyer in his affidavit.
DMK candidate Anjugam Boopathy also filed her papers with the returning officer on Friday. Boopathy, in her affidavit, disclosed assets valued at a total of Rs 31.31 lakh. Her mother Roopavathy owns assets worth Rs 67.58 lakh. She declared her profession as medical doctor.
In Aravakurichi also, both the DMK and AIADMK candidates filed their nomination papers. DMK candidate K C Palanisamy, who is also the party’s assets protection committee secretary, filed his papers around 12.45 pm. Along with him, his son K C P Sivaraman filed papers as a dummy candidate. Similarly, candidate of the ruling AIADMK and former transport minister V Senthil Balaji filed his papers in the presence of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker and senior leader M Thambidurai and transport minister M R Vijaya Baskar.
According to the affidavits filed by the candidates, Palanisamy has movable and immovable property worth Rs 89.05 crore, including assets worth Rs 40.39 crore in his name, Rs 6.36 crore in his wife Annammal’s name, Rs 39.43 crore in his son Sivaraman’s name and Rs 2.90 crore worth assets in the name his daughter-in-law Sudha. For Thirupparankundram by-election in Madurai district, AIADMK candidate A K Bose filed his papers on Friday. As many as 10 ministers, including Finance Minister O Panneerselvam, accompanied him.
